MODIFICATIONS

Subject to the approval of the member associations, provided that the fundamental principles of these Laws are respected, may modify the application of these Rules of the Game in games played by children under 16 years, women’s teams, veteran players (over 35 years) and for players with disabilities.

The following modifications are allowed:

dimension of the field
size, weight and material of the ball
width between the goalposts and height of the crossbar
duration of the periods of play
substitutions
Other modifications are allowed only with the consent of the International Football Association Board.

Men and women
References to the male gender in the Laws of the Game in respect of referees, assistant referees, players and officials are (for simplification) both men and women.

Official languages
FIFA, on behalf of the International Football Association Board publishes the Laws of the Game in English, French, German and Spanish. If there is any divergence in the texts, the English text shall prevail.
